Meet Your Coach

Hello Family, My name is Aaron Patterson. I am the owner and head coach of Lifestyle Fitness Training.

I was born and raised in New York City, Queens to be exact. I am a fitness coach, obstacle course racer and dog dad here in Albany, NY. When I was just five years old I told my parents I wanted to play football. They looked at me, this five year old child, and asked if I was sure. At least that’s what they told me.

Moral of the story is that I wasn’t deterred. I have been involved in athletics my entire life. I grew up playing multiple sports: baseball, bowling, basketball, etc. Once I got to high-school I made the decision to follow my passion. Which at the time was football. After high-school I went on to play Division II football in Massachusetts before transferring. After that I decided to hang up my cleats and focus on earning my degree.

As someone who has been an athlete his entire life, it was hard not having that outlet anymore. For a while I was lost. I didn't workout, put on thirty pounds, and basically let myself go. I was in a headspace that I couldn’t shake. Things would happen and I would ask myself, “Why is this happening to me?” instead of asking, “What am I going to do about it?” I blamed everyone but the person responsible for me, me! As I neared the end of my collegiate career one thing became abundantly clear to me, which was that I was going down a dark path and If I didn't figure something out, I was going to lose myself.

So, I started focusing on just that, myself. I figured that with everything going on at the very least I could look a little better. I took the leap and invested in myself by training, five sometimes six times a week. And slowly but surely I did start looking better, but more importantly I started to feel better. Then I realized something. I realized this is where I belonged. Fitness was never a hobby to me, it is who I am, it is apart of my lifestyle.

Now, I had my degree in business and communication from the University at Albany. I began searching for ways to experience the rush that physical activity had brought me in my youth. What I found was more than I was looking for. I found something that I could be passionate about again. I found mentors who introduced me to obstacle course racing, nutrition, and fitness coaching. Along the way I earned a multitude of certifications : Personal Training, Boxing, Group X, Nutrition, etc. The goal behind all of this is to impact the lives of others.

All of this has opened up levels of confidence and experiences I could never have imagined. It is the light at the end of my tunnel. And there had to be a way I could share this experience and help other find the light at the end of their tunnel, which is exactly why I became a personal trainer. I don’t really know where life is going to take me, but I do know one thing, everyone has to commit to something, so why not let it be yourself? Life is hard whether you’re winning or losing, so let’s choose to win, together.
